Clutter: My New Year Declutter part 2

Post May Contain Affliate Links

It's Febuarary and that means part 2 of our declutter! Have you finished Part 1 ? Okay well stop where you are and you can get back to it in part 3!

Grab those boxes you named "No Idea" and place them in one place. The attic, garage, storage, spare room, or corner someplace. You already did this?Great, you are a step closer to being done! Now grab one box any box, an empty box, pen, paper, and a trash bag. Plop in a comfy chair and open the first box.

One touch rule so touch it once and place in the bag to donate, box if you still don't know where to put it, or put it away. Yes, get up and put it away NOW.Do not wait to have a pile. If it goes in the no idea where to put box write it down. This is very important for step 3.

So your bag should have some items to give away the box should be less than full, and some items now have a place to go! Yay! But you are not done.Grab another box and do the same until the box that you aren't sure where to put is full. Then tape it up and then tape the list to the box. This box goes back to the attic, basement, or closet. And stop for the day and if you haven't done everything in part 1 work on getting it done first,

Okay, You have worked hard and step 2 is done. How many boxes do you have now compared to part 1? If it's smaller great job! If it is the same great job on purging during part 1! Or maybe you are keeping too much?Step 3 is going to be hard so work on part 1 and part 2 and be ready!

A few clutter buster ideas to find a place for all the odds and ends

1.Place paper clutter in colorful binders

2.Declutter a junk drawer with rubber bands and plastic bowls with lids.

3.Contain like items in a basket or baskets.

4.Ditch the junk mail right away! Do not keep junk mail shred it and toss it! No shredder? Dunk it in a sink of water , rip it up , and throw food waste or used kitty litter all over it. but get it out asap!

Keep watching for part 3. I saved the best for last!

  2. Nice tips! I have this habit of checking the mailbox on the way out of our driveway, grabbing the junk mail and then dumping it in our recycling bin or nearest trash can so it never even comes into the house. Silly thing is, I never get around to putting a no junk mail sign on the letterbox!!!

  3. Hurrah for decluttering. We moved into a little apartment 6 months ago and my favorite thing about it is that there's no room for clutter! :) We have what we need and aren't tempted to store junk.

  6. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I've been in the 'declutter' stage for the past week. It feels good to just get rid of unimportant stuff! I hate clutter, but clutter sure seems to love me.

    1. I can relate clutter comes from someplace maybe "I don't know" or "I didn't do it" keeps bringing it in.

    1. How exciting to have your own office. If you are crafty at all Habitat for Humanity usually has old office furniture and it's a great cause. I have seen so many cabinets , bookcases , and desks for under $40 each. A little paint or some furniture polish and your all set.
